Fennel seeds (Foeniculum vulgare)
Wild fennel unlike (Foeniculum vulgare var. Azoricum) has no tuber. This is grown for its seed. The Romans were familiar with the effects on menstrual disorders, indigestion, flatulence and colic. Its pleasant aroma and special taste has made it popular in the alcoholic beverages industry. You can also make an infusion from ground seeds. The Foeniculum is also a very decorative plant in the garden with blooms in umbels of yellow flowers. In the garden it prefers a warm, protected postion. In the second year it grows very quickly so it needs to be planted in an appropriate place (height approx. 2m).
