Canary Island Date Palm seeds (Phoenix Canarensis)
The Canary Island date palm is endemic to the Canary Islands but it is also widespread throughout the Mediterranean as a popular species parks. In contrast to the original date-palm it has a much thicker trunk, much larger tree top and much smaller fruit. The fruit is also edible in principle but it does not have much flesh and therefore is only used as fodder.
Phoenix canariensis is resistant to frost up to -8, in colder places it can be grown in large pots. Its fresh seeds germinate better and the plant is very resistant.
